Welcome to the home page for the Office of the Attorney General. It is our purpose to provide information about the work of the Attorney General's Office and to provide resources to the people of Wyoming. The Attorney General of the State of Wyoming is appointed by the Governor, pursuant to Wyo.Stat. § 9-1-601. The primary duties of the Attorney General are outlined in Wyo.Stat. § 9-1-603. 


 

The Attorney General's office, by law, provides legal opinions only to elected and appointed state officials and represents the state agencies in actions in courts of law. The Attorney General's office is prohibited from offering legal advice to private citizens or organizations.

Complaints regarding Consumer Protection issues should be made to the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit at 307-777-8962 or 1-800-438-5799. 


 

For questions regarding the content of state law, you may access Wyoming Statutes 

at the website of the Legislative Service Office. 


 

Wyoming's Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) handles questions relating to criminal history, concealed weapons permits, sex offender registration, and other matters. You may contact them by phone,  (307) 777-7181,  or on their website.
